Priya Sharma
Settlement Mentor & Cultural Integration Coach
About Priya
Priya Sharma moved from Mumbai to Sydney in 2013 with her husband and two young children and spent the first year feeling utterly lost — despite holding a Master's degree in Social Work. That experience became the foundation of her career as a settlement mentor. Today she supports newly arrived families from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East as they navigate school enrolments, Medicare registration, neighbourhood choices, cultural adaptation, and the subtle social codes that never appear in any official handbook. Priya is a qualified Social Worker (AASW member) and holds a Certificate IV in Community Services. She has been a settlement volunteer with the Multicultural Communities Council of NSW for eight years and currently runs a private practice alongside her volunteer work. Her sessions are warm, practical, and deeply culturally informed — she speaks Hindi, Gujarati, and conversational Marathi in addition to English, meaning she can often serve clients in their mother tongue. Priya is particularly skilled at supporting women who have arrived as dependants and are looking to rebuild professional identities and social networks in a new country.
