Yuki Tanaka
Registered Psychotherapist & Immigrant Mental Health Counsellor
About Yuki
Yuki Tanaka is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and has completed advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and trauma-informed practice. As a Japanese-Canadian who immigrated at age 14, Yuki has lived the profound disorientation of adolescent immigration and has dedicated her clinical career to supporting newcomers, refugees, and second-generation immigrants who are navigating questions of cultural identity, belonging, and mental wellness. Her practice β conducted entirely online β serves clients across Canada, the US, and Australia. She is particularly skilled in supporting immigrants experiencing acculturation stress: the persistent, often invisible toll of managing two cultural identities simultaneously. Sessions are conducted in English or Japanese and are available on a sliding-scale basis for clients experiencing financial hardship. Yuki also facilitates monthly free community circles for Japanese-speaking newcomers in the Vancouver area.
