The Global Talent visa is the UK's premium immigration route for individuals who are recognised leaders (Exceptional Talent) or rising stars (Exceptional Promise) in their fields. It provides maximum flexibility β there is no requirement for a job offer or sponsor, and visa holders can work for multiple employers, switch between roles, or be self-employed.
Endorsing Bodies
Each sector has a designated endorsing body that assesses applications: - Digital technology and innovation: Tech Nation (until April 2024, then UKRI) - Research and academia: UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) - Science and engineering: The Royal Academy of Engineering / Royal Society / British Academy - Arts and culture (film, TV, games): British Film Institute (BFI) - Arts and culture (music, performing arts, visual arts): Arts Council England
Two Tracks
Accelerated Settlement
Global Talent visa holders can qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) faster than most other routes: - Exceptional Talent: 3 years of continuous residence - Exceptional Promise: 5 years of continuous residence
There is no cap on the number of Global Talent visas issued.
Application Process
Applicants first apply for an endorsement from the relevant endorsing body (separate application with its own fee). Once endorsed, they apply to the Home Office for the visa within 3 months of the endorsement decision. The visa is granted for up to 5 years at a time and can be renewed indefinitely until ILR.
