The Subclass 482 (TSS) visa replaced the former 457 visa in March 2018. It is Australia's main temporary employer-sponsored work visa, allowing businesses to fill skills gaps with overseas workers when Australians are not available.
Two Main Streams
Employer Sponsorship Requirements
The employer must be an approved standard business sponsor. They must: - Demonstrate the position is genuinely needed - Conduct Labour Market Testing (LMT) to show they could not find a suitable Australian - Pay the applicant at least the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT β AUD 73,150 in 2023-24) or the market salary rate, whichever is higher
English Requirement
Applicants must demonstrate at least competent English (IELTS 5.0 in each band, or equivalent) unless exempt.
Skills Requirement
Applicants must have the skills, qualifications and experience required for the nominated occupation, evidenced through relevant qualifications and work experience.
