🇬🇧 United Kingdom · BNO Visa
1 mandatory requirement, 3 supporting factors, and 6 core documents — here is exactly what United Kingdom expects.
Missing any of these disqualifies an application outright — confirm them before investing in fees or document preparation.
The main applicant must hold a valid British National (Overseas) passport, or be eligible to obtain BNO status. Family members of a BNO holder may apply even without BNO status themselves.
Not strictly required, but each strengthens your case — the weight shown reflects how heavily our scoring engine (and in practice, adjudicators) value it.
BNO status is available to those who were British Dependent Territories Citizens in relation to Hong Kong before 1 July 1997, and their qualifying family members.
Must demonstrate sufficient funds to support themselves and family members in the UK. No specific income threshold for the main BNO holder, but funds should cover living costs.
Applicants must not have criminal convictions or other factors that would make them ineligible for a UK visa.
British National (Overseas) Passport
Valid BNO passport for the main applicant. Must be valid at the time of application.
Family Members' Passports
Valid passports of all family members included in the application.
Proof of Family Relationship
Marriage/civil partnership certificate, children's birth certificates, or other evidence proving family relationship to the BNO holder.
Proof of BNO Eligibility (if not yet a BNO holder)
Documents confirming eligibility for BNO status if the BNO passport has not yet been obtained.
Bank Statements
Bank statements to demonstrate ability to support yourself and family in the UK.
Tuberculosis Test Certificate
Required if you have been in a TB-listed country for 6+ months in the 6 years before applying.
