The Subclass 858 Global Talent visa provides a streamlined pathway for internationally recognised leaders in designated target sectors to obtain Australian permanent residence. Unlike points-based visas, eligibility is determined by the calibre of your achievements and the endorsement of a recognised Australian organisation.

Target Sectors

The Department of Home Affairs prioritises applications from individuals in:

Key Requirements

1. 1.Internationally Prominent — you must be internationally recognised as prominent in your field through awards, publications, patents, high-profile positions, or measurable impact.
2. 2.Endorsement — a nominating organisation (Australian university, research institute, professional body, major employer or peak industry body) must endorse your application.
3. 3.Salary Threshold — you must have prospects of earning at or above the Fair Work High Income Threshold (AUD 167,500 in 2023-24) or be an emerging leader with the same prospects.
4. 4.No Age Limit — unlike most skilled visas, there is no age cap.

No Application Fee

The Subclass 858 has no government visa application fee (AUD 0).

The Global Talent program aims for processing within 2–4 weeks once a complete application with endorsement is lodged, though realistically 3–12 months is more typical depending on case complexity.
