The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is the fastest route to Canadian permanent residence for those who already live and work in Canada. It is managed through the Express Entry system and is specifically designed for temporary foreign workers and international graduates who have gained skilled work experience inside Canada.
Core Eligibility
Applicants must have accumulated at least 1 year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled Canadian work experience in a NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation within the 3 years before applying. Unlike the Federal Skilled Worker program, there is no foreign work experience minimum and no educational requirement β Canadian experience is what matters.
Language Requirements
No Job Offer Required
CEC applicants do not need a Canadian job offer to be eligible. However, having one adds bonus CRS points and improves your ranking in the Express Entry pool.
Advantage for Canadian Residents
CEC candidates tend to earn higher CRS scores because Canadian work experience is the most heavily weighted human capital factor in the CRS β up to 80 points for a single year. IRCC frequently holds CEC-specific draws, often at lower CRS cut-offs than general draws. Processing of the PR application typically takes 6 months or less after receiving an ITA.
