The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is Alberta's provincial nominee program, which selects skilled immigrants to support the province's labour market and economic goals. It replaced the former Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) in 2022.
Streams Available
Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) For temporary foreign workers currently living and working in Alberta with a valid work permit. Applicants must have an Alberta job offer in an eligible NOC occupation, meet language requirements, and have sufficient work experience. This is not an Express Entry-linked stream.
Alberta Express Entry Stream Targets candidates in the federal Express Entry pool whose skills align with Alberta's labour market priorities. Candidates do not need an Alberta job offer. AAIP proactively selects and sends Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to eligible EE candidates. A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points.
Rural Renewal Stream For foreign nationals with a job offer in a designated rural Alberta community. Connects communities facing labour shortages with immigrants.
Self-Employed Farmer Stream For experienced farmers who plan to purchase and operate a farm in Alberta. Requires at least $500,000 CAD in net farm equity and farm management experience.
Wage and Experience Requirements The AOS wage requirement is typically tied to the median wage for the occupation in Alberta. Most streams require demonstrated intent to live in Alberta permanently.
