Government processing times move with caseload. Check the official processing-time page for the current published estimate — our platform tracks these automatically.
Determine which qualifying category applies (cultural activities, athletics, or farm management). Calculate your score on the selection grid: experience (up to 35), education (up to 25), age (up to 10), language (up to 24), adaptability (up to 6). Must total at least 35.
Complete an IRCC-approved language test. Language can earn up to 24 points on the selection grid. A strong score significantly helps reach the 35-point minimum.
File the Self-Employed Persons application to the Case Processing Centre, Vegreville (for farm management) or online. Include all required forms, evidence of experience, and supporting documents.
IRCC may request an interview to assess your intent and ability to be self-employed. Provide police certificates and complete the immigration medical exam.
