🇬🇧 United Kingdom · Family Visa
3 mandatory requirements, 2 supporting factors, and 6 core documents — here is exactly what United Kingdom expects.
Missing any of these disqualifies an application outright — confirm them before investing in fees or document preparation.
The UK-based family member must be a British citizen or hold Indefinite Leave to Remain/Enter in the UK.
The UK sponsor must meet the minimum income threshold — currently £29,000/year (as of April 2024). Future increases: £34,500 by early 2025 and £38,700 in later phase.
Spouse/partner applicants must demonstrate English at CEFR A1 level (entry clearance). Can be met via an approved SELT, UK degree, or national of a majority English-speaking country.
Not strictly required, but each strengthens your case — the weight shown reflects how heavily our scoring engine (and in practice, adjudicators) value it.
The relationship must be genuine and subsisting (not entered into primarily for immigration purposes). Evidence of the relationship is assessed by the Entry Clearance Officer.
There must be adequate accommodation for the sponsor, applicant, and any dependants without recourse to public funds.
