Identify and apply to UKRI-identified scale-up companies that hold a Scale-Up sponsor licence. The job offer must be at RQF Level 6+, at a salary of at least £36,300/year, and for at least 6 months.

Obtain Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
≈ 14 days
Your scale-up employer assigns a CoS through the Sponsor Management System. The CoS reference number is required for your visa application.

Apply Online and Pay Fees

Apply for the Scale-Up visa online through UKVI. Pay the visa fee and Immigration Health Surcharge. Upload CoS reference, English language evidence, and bank statements.

Biometrics, Decision, and 6-Month Milestone

Attend a VAC for biometrics. Once in the UK, work with your scale-up employer for the initial 6-month sponsored period. After 6 months, your visa becomes unsponsored — you can then work freely.
