The UK employer must hold a valid Skilled Worker sponsor licence from the Home Office. Once licensed, they assign a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) to the applicant via the Sponsor Management System (SMS). The CoS reference number is needed to apply.
Submit the Skilled Worker visa application online via the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) portal. Complete the online form, upload all supporting documents, and pay the application fee and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).
Book an appointment at a UK Visa Application Centre (VAC) in your country to provide fingerprints and photograph. If outside the UK, you will also upload your original documents.
Standard processing takes up to 3 weeks from outside the UK. Priority and super-priority services are available for an additional fee (5 working days or next working day respectively). UKVI will email a decision.
Enter the UK with your vignette visa sticker and collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) from a local post office within 10 days of arrival. The BRP is your main proof of immigration status.
